Get your Exodus Wallet's Seed Phrase
If you already know Seed Phrase you can skip this step. If you have already generated Seed/Recovery Phrase, you can skip to the last step below.
- Open "Settings".
- Switch to Backup Tab and set a password for your wallet's Backup. Make sure to not forget this password.
- Click on "View Secret Phrase" to view your wallet's Seed Phrase.
- Click on "Show Secret Recovery Phrase". This will show 12 words in a particular order. Make sure to write down these words with exact spellings and order somewhere secure. Don't share this Seed/Recovery Phrase because using this Phrase anyone can get access to all funds in your wallet. Once you have written down the recovery phrase you can click on "Done".
- If you can't find written Seed/Recovery Phrase or has already generated Recovery Phrase previously, you can click on View to view it again.
Restore Using Electrum
- Download Electrum and start. You can download Electrum from here: https://electrum.org/. Make sure to have electrum downloaded from the official site.
- Create a New Wallet by clicking on "Create New Wallet'.
- Select a wallet Name and location (where to save wallet file). Make sure that you remember these. Click on "Next"
- Select "Standard Wallet" when asked What kind of wallet do you want to create. Click on "Next"
- When ask about Keystore, select "I already have a seed" option. This is because we will be using seed phrase from Exodus wallet to restore that wallet here in Electrum.
- Now asked to Enter Seed, Copy and Paste the 12 word Seed Phrase generated from exodus wallet here.
- Click on Options and select "BIP seed" Seed Type option and click on Ok. Then Click on "Next".
- This is a Technical Step that might take some hit and trial on your end to get right.
- First click on "Detect Existing Accounts". On clicking this button, Electrum would try to automatically detect deviation path for your Exodus Wallet. If it's able to detect a deviation path, that's great. You can click on "Next" and go to next step.
- If Electrum was unable to detect a Deviation Path, you can then select "negative segwit" option and click on "Next".
- Please note that if using this Deviation Path, you are unable to finds all or any funds in your electrum wallet, you can try creating a new Electrum wallet following the exact steps as mentioned above (with a different wallet name) but selecting "legacy" option this time. - Set a Password for your Electrum Wallet and click "Finish".
- That's it. You should now be able to access all the funds Exodus wallet from Electrum Wallet.
